 Region I Girls ODP
 U-12 Program Overview

The following is a brief overview of the Under 12 Girls Programs offered in US Youth Soccer Region I:

U12 Mini-Camps

  • Organized and operated entirely by State Association.
  • Region l assumes a supporting role defined by the State Association to reinforce lessons taught at the state level and to educate families about and generally promote ODP.
  • U12 Mini-Camps will only be open to ODP players from the sponsoring state association.

U12 ODP Academy Weekend

  • Organized and operated entirely by Region 1.
  • State ODP Coaches are welcome to attend.
  • Primary objectives are to educate players and their parents about ODP in general, how ODP at both the state and regional level can help in player development and how Region 1 ODP can influence the college ID process for players.
  • ODP Academy Weekends are open to all ODP players and club players not yet involved in ODP.
  • A database of all players who attend will be given to their respective state association to help each state association market and promote their State ODP.
  • All players attending an ODP Academy Weekend must present a valid US Youth Soccer player pass.

U12 Region 1 Camp/ University of Rhode Island

  • Organized and operated entirely by Region 1.
  • If a state association sponsors a U12 ODP age group, only those U12 (by birth year) players who participate in it may attend. State U12 ODP Coaches will be invited to attend and be involved in the Region 1 Camp process.
  • Players from states that do not sponsor a U12 ODP age group may attend. However, to be eligible to attend, these players must first confirm they are duly registered with their state association. This will promote ODP in general and will help state associations build their state ODP teams. A database of those attending Region 1 Camp from states without a U12 Program will be provided to the state association.
  • Primary objectives are to educate players and their parents about ODP in general, how ODP at both the state and regional level can help in player development and how Region 1 ODP can influence the college ID process for players.
  • Challenge players as they will be competing with and against the top players in Region 1.
  • Expose players to new coaches and a competitive playing environment.
  • A U 12 Regional pool will be selected at the end of the camp. Players from this pool will be invited to attend a Region l Event in late fall or early spring.
