Top national talent will converge on Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex for the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys Interregional events. The US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Thanksgiving Interregional will represent teams in the 1994 and 1995 age groups while the 1992 and 1993 age groups will hold their interregional over the Christmas break.
Continuing its tradition of elite play, competition and player development, youth from the nation’s elite player identification and development program, US Youth Soccer ODP, will train and compete in front of U.S. Soccer National Team Staff and leading collegiate coaches to maximize their exposure for selection to National Teams and collegiate programs.
The US Youth Soccer ODP program is viewed as the premier identification and development program for the nation’s youth seeking the opportunity to compete at the national and collegiate levels of play.
"US Youth Soccer ODP has played a meaningful role in player development in the United States," said head coach of the U.S. Soccer Under-17 Men’s National Team, John Hackworth. "The players develop in US Youth Soccer ODP by continually being placed in more competitive environment, such as playing internationally with regional teams. This provides these elite players from across the nation with valuable experience and a platform to improve. The US Youth Soccer ODP contributes to the encompassing effort of identifying potential players for the U.S. National Team programs."
This events are one of the many events offered to players who compete in the US Youth Soccer ODP Program. The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, to develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.
